Stand-By-Me handed over
At an event at the Spirella Ballroom in Letchworth on 27 November, the running and management of the Trust’s child bereavement service, Stand-By-Me, was officially handed over to a Board of Trustees from the local community.
For the last year Stand-by-Me has provided a much-needed service for children in North Hertfordshire who have lost a family member. Services provided include a free telephone helpline (tel – 0800 0116 115), a group support programme and the website – http://stand-by-me.org.uk/
The Trust’s Chief Executive, David Law, commented: “When Stand-By-Me was launched I listened to two young people who had been bereaved talking about their experience. It was very moving and really brought home the need for the support that Stand-By-Me has put in place. I am very pleased that Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust has been in a position to support the establishment of the service and would specifically like to thank Trisha Taylor [Stand-By-Me Project Leader] for the remarkable work she has done to come to a position where we can hand over to a Board of Trustees. I know they feel as strongly as we do about looking after the interests of young people. We will continue to support the Trustees and I look forward to seeing Stand-By-Me go from strength to strength”.
