Triumph for the Trust at the Health Enterprise East NHS Innovation
Congratulations go to two of the Trust's teams who have attended the Health Enterprise East 2014 NHS Innovation Competition Awards event at Girton College.
Dr Ana Draper and her team triumphed in the category entitled Patient Dignity and Experience with their Distress Thermometer psychological screening tool which is used in palliative care. The benefit of the Distress Thermometer is that it has dramatically increased the team’s ability to accurately identify distress, which has had a direct impact on the patient experience and their dignity. This improved pathway means that patients can be allocated psychological support according to the NICE competencies and supervised during the delivery of psychological interventions.
Shortlisted in the category of Long Term Conditions Management was Ruth Bird and her team. The team used assistive technology (iPad and Scene and Heard app) to facilitate communicative interactions for Aphasic clients, giving them a voice, helping to make their communication an interactive process and increasing confidence in work, at home and when socialising.
